TL;DR
  • Elden Ring has sold over 28.6 million copies, with an extra three million since June.
  • The "Shadow of the Erdtree" DLC sold five million copies in just three days.
  • FromSoftware is expanding with new projects like "Nightreign" while riding Elden Ring's success.

Elden Ring, FromSoftware’s brutal yet beloved action RPG, has officially sold over 28.6 million copies. The company announced the milestone on its website yesterday cementing its place as one of the most successful games in recent history.

The game’s popularity shows no signs of slowing down. Since June, Elden Ring has moved an additional three million units, thanks to Kai Cenat’s Elden Ring marathon on Twitch.

The recently released DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is also breaking records. It sold an incredible five million copies in just three days. That’s a lot of players eager to dive back into the Lands Between for more punishment.

Despite its reputation for being tough as nails, Elden Ring has managed to strike a balance that keeps players coming back for more. The game offers a wide array of tools and strategies, allowing players to tailor the difficulty to their liking. This accessibility, combined with its deep lore and engaging gameplay, has led to surprisingly high completion rates.

FromSoftware isn’t resting on its laurels, though. Riding high on Elden Ring‘s success, the studio has announced a new project called Nightreign. While details are scarce, fans are already super excited. This new title seems to be part of a fresh strategy for the company, focusing on smaller, more frequent releases while their main man, Hidetaka Miyazaki, works on bigger projects.
