Players have discovered that League of Legends on PC now recognizes Xbox controller input and applies what appears to be native button mappings. Multiple users testing across different PCs and controllers report the same result.
Players noticed it when they plugged in Xbox controllers and found movement mapped to analog sticks in a WASD-style scheme. Abilities and basic attacks are assigned to face buttons and triggers without requiring third-party remapping tools like Xpadder or Steam Input.
For skillshot aiming, players describe holding a bumper button, aiming with the right analog stick, and releasing to cast. Basic attacks appear mapped to the A button, though questions remain about how target selection works in minion waves.
League of Legends has operated as a strictly mouse-and-keyboard game on PC since its 2009 launch. Players who wanted controller support relied on custom remapping solutions that generally worked better for simpler champions or casual modes.
Riot Games already maintains League of Legends: Wild Rift, a mobile version built from the ground up for touchscreen and controller inputs. Wild Rift features smart targeting, priority systems, and aim-assist-like mechanics designed for non-mouse play.
Riot hasn’t issued patch notes or developer statements confirming intentional controller support. At least one player reports the feature doesn’t work on macOS, suggesting it may be Windows-specific or inconsistent across platforms.
