TL;DR
  • Oner won't challenge the Korean national team's jungle selection for the 2026 Asian Games.
  • Canyon remains the starting jungler, despite heavy debate over current form versus career résumé.
  • The decision carries weight because Asian Games gold can grant Korean players military-service benefits, a major factor for pro careers.

T1 jungler Moon “Oner” Hyeon-joon has decided not to appeal South Korea’s national team selection for the 2026 Asian Games. That means Gen.G’s Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu stays locked in as the country’s starting jungler for the League of Legends event.

The jungle slot was the most contested spot on the entire roster. Both players had a real case, and many expected Oner to push back through the formal appeal process. He won’t.

The stakes here go beyond a medal. South Korean men are required to complete military service, but an Asian Games gold can qualify athletes for special service treatment. For a pro player, that can mean the difference between a career interruption and staying in form for years to come. Oner missing this roster could leave him with limited future chances, especially if the next Asian Games cycle slides into 2031.

Canyon, the 2020 World Champion and one of the most decorated junglers in LoL history, was picked despite some shaky stretches with Gen.G in recent seasons. Oner, meanwhile, has been a core part of T1’s recent international run alongside Faker, Zeus, and Keria, with many arguing he’s been in better current form.

By skipping the appeal, Oner avoids a messy fight with the national selection committee and any awkward fallout with Canyon or the rest of the lineup. Korea’s coaching staff can now prep the team without a roster challenge hanging over their heads, with Canyon set to take the jungle spot when the Asian Games kick off.
