The OnlyFangs guild has officially beaten World of Warcraft Classic‘s Blackwing Lair raid in hardcore mode, achieving their ultimate goal months in the making.
Led by veteran streamer Sodapoppin (Soda), the guild tackled the notoriously challenging raid without relying on the controversial “Flask of Petrification” survival tactic that many considered essential for hardcore success. Thousands of viewers tuned in to watch the achievement unfold live across multiple streams.
The raid wasn’t without its casualties—notably streamer Pikaboo, who died near the final moments of the run, promptly receiving a ceremonial teabagging from Soda. Nymn also fell during the event and received similar memorial treatment, adding some levity to the otherwise tense encounter.
“So many people said you can’t raid in hardcore without petrification, glad to see they did it and accomplished their goal,” noted one community member, highlighting the significance of clearing without the safety net most hardcore raiders rely on.
The achievement stands out even more considering the guild’s previous setbacks, including delays caused by DDoS attacks on WoW servers.
Special recognition goes to guild member Ahmpy, whom many described as “pivotal” to the group’s success. Behind the scenes, Soda’s moderators, particularly Vulpes, were credited with developing supporting add-ons and handling guild management that made the achievement possible.
With BWL now conquered, speculation turns to what’s next for Onlyfangs. Some guild members have hinted at potentially tackling AQ40, the next raid tier, while others suggest waiting for Season 3 of WoW Classic Hardcore. Soda himself has yet to confirm future plans, leaving fans eagerly awaiting announcements.
