Shawn Fonteno says the bike situation is sorted. The GTA V actor recently claimed Kai Cenat never followed through on a promise he made to a child during a visit to Fonteno’s old Los Angeles neighborhood.
Fonteno said Cenat reached out to him, called the lapse an “honest mistake,” and that the matter is now “fixed.”
In November 2024, Fonteno took Cenat through the parts of Los Angeles where he grew up. The video leaned on the GTA V connection: Fonteno plays Franklin Clinton, and Los Santos is a satirical copy of LA, with Franklin’s turf pulling heavily from South LA.
During the walkthrough, Fonteno introduced Cenat to locals, including a young kid. Fonteno later said around 15 people were living in the child’s home.
Cenat asked the boy what he wanted. The kid asked for a bike. Fonteno and the child both took Cenat’s answer as a yes.
The callout
Fonteno brought it up again on the Dope As Usual podcast, saying the item never arrived and that the kid kept asking about it. According to his account, Cenat’s side had been reminded about it more than once.
Fonteno’s issue wasn’t the price tag. It was that a promise had been made directly to a child, in his old neighborhood, and left hanging.
Fonteno then relayed an update saying Cenat had contacted him and the two had squared things away. He described it as a genuine slip rather than a snub, which tracks with how creators at Cenat’s scale operate, requests like this usually get handed off to assistants or management, and things fall through the cracks.
