Martin “Rekkles” Larsson has added one of the strangest trophies to his shelf. The Swedish veteran received a 2024 League of Legends World Championship ring as T1‘s registered substitute, despite never playing a single game during the tournament.

Rekkles showed off the ring on his X account, and got fans talking again about his unusual 2024 run with the Korean giants.

T1 won Worlds 2024 in London, beating Bilibili Gaming 3–2 at The O2 Arena. The starting lineup of Zeus, Oner, Faker, Gumayusi, and Keria did all the on-stage work. Rekkles was the sixth name on the official roster, listed as the team’s substitute.

Because he didn’t play any matches, Rekkles doesn’t qualify for a Worlds champion skin under Riot’s eligibility rules. Worlds skins are reserved for players who actually competed at the event, which is why teammates like Faker and Keria will get their cosmetic tribute, and Rekkles won’t.

The ring is a different kind of recognition. It marks him as part of the official title-winning roster, similar to how bench players in the NBA or backup keepers in the Champions League collect medals without seeing minutes.

How Rekkles ended up on T1 at all is its own story. The former Fnatic, G2, and Karmine Corp star joined T1 Esports Academy ahead of the 2024 season, role-swapped from AD carry to support, and moved into the Korean developmental system. When Worlds came to Europe, T1 brought him along as their emergency option.

He never had to step in. T1 members, including Keria and Oner, publicly credited Rekkles for his work behind the scenes during the run, from scrim prep to draft talks.

Before this, Rekkles’ closest brush with a Worlds title came in 2018, when Fnatic lost the final to Invictus Gaming. Six years later, he has a championship ring from a team that did go all the way, just not with him on the server.
