Remedy Entertainment has released a new story and release-date trailer for Control Resonant, the next major entry in the Control franchise. The footage confirms a September launch and gives the clearest look yet at where the studio is taking its paranormal universe next.
The trailer leans hard into story over gameplay. It puts Dylan Faden, the troubled brother of original protagonist Jesse Faden, much closer to the center of the action. Fans had long expected Jesse to remain the franchise’s face, so seeing Dylan get this much screen time is a surprise that has gone over well.
One of the biggest moments in the trailer is the return of Dr. Casper Darling, the Federal Bureau of Control’s former Head of Research. His fate was left dangling in the 2019 original, and his reappearance hints that Control Resonant plans to pick up several loose threads from the first game, including the Hiss, the Board, and the FBC’s experiments on Dylan.
The visual style is unmistakably Remedy. Brutalist office spaces, reality-bending architecture, unsettling face projections, and that signature mix of bureaucratic surrealism and cosmic horror are all present. If you played Control or Alan Wake 2, you’ll feel right at home.
Control Resonant sits inside the Remedy Connected Universe, the studio’s growing web of linked stories that already ties Control to Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2 through the AWE expansion and shared lore. Remedy also reacquired the rights to the Control IP from 505 Games, giving the studio full creative ownership going forward.
A crowded September awaits
The September release window places Control Resonant in what is shaping up to be a packed month, with titles like Marvel’s Wolverine, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Silent Hill: Townfall, Blood of the Dawnwalker, and Ace Combat all reportedly circling the same period. Many publishers appear to be clearing the deck before GTA VI arrives later in the year.
Although the reveal aired through PlayStation’s PS5 Games channel, Control Resonant isn’t a PlayStation exclusive. Remedy’s own upload of the trailer lists additional platforms including PC via Steam. The full lineup and edition details, including any potential early access bonus, will be confirmed through Remedy’s official channels.
