Square Enix has dropped the reveal trailer for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. The game is targeting a spring 2027 release window and will launch on all platforms at the same time.

That last part is a big deal. Remake and Rebirth both started life as PlayStation timed exclusives. Revelation is skipping that step entirely, lining up with Square Enix’s recent push to ditch single-platform launches after underwhelming sales on flagship releases.

The big gameplay reveal is the Highwind. The iconic airship returns as the main way to get around the world, and the trailer shows characters literally skydiving out of it into different environments. Square Enix appears to be using it to open the map up early and let players pick where they go.

Vincent Valentine also finally gets proper playable gameplay after sitting on the bench during Rebirth. The trailer shows the gothic gunslinger in active combat, which should make longtime fans very happy. Cid Highwind also shows up, though his exact combat role hasn’t been fully confirmed yet.

The F.I.T. System

The trailer introduced a new mechanic called the F.I.T. System, described as a way to “further customize your playstyle with new uniforms imbued with unique movesets.” In practice, this looks like a job-style system layered on top of the existing Materia and ATB combat. Tifa, for example, was shown in what appears to be a Black Mage-style outfit.

It’s not quite confirmed as a full traditional job system, but the comparison to classic Final Fantasy class mechanics, Final Fantasy X-2‘s Dresspheres, and Final Fantasy XIV‘s job setup is hard to miss. Movesets reportedly change with the uniform, not just visuals.

A spring 2027 launch would land Revelation squarely in the original Final Fantasy VII‘s 30th anniversary window. The original Japanese release was January 31, 1997, meaning the trilogy will wrap roughly seven years after Remake kicked things off in 2020.
