Team Liquid just pulled off the impossible in World of Warcraft, by killing the final boss in Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible raid on Mythic difficulty. Team Liquid won the battle as part of the “Race to World First” competition in which they conquer all of Nerub-ar Palace against 19 other top-tier gilds.
The raid took Team Liquid a mind-blowing 404 attempts. The irony wasn’t lost on the commentators, who couldn’t resist cracking jokes about this exact number. Aberrus is incredibly difficult. It is the latest and toughest raid in WoW’s Dragonflight expansion. Mythic difficulty is the ultimate challenge, pushing even the best players to their limits.
Team Liquid’s victory didn’t come easy though. They faced doubters in and outside the community who claimed the boss was already unkillable before nerfs, but Liquid proved them wrong with a god-tier pull, showing insane skill and coordination.
The final attempt was pure magic. Liquid’s damage output suddenly spiked 5% higher than their previous tries. Players like Xsevi and THD pulled off last-second saves and increased their legendary status among WoW fans all over the world.
This win further cements Team Liquid’s status as WoW raiding legends. They led the pack throughout the entire raid tier. We have never seen a team perform so consistently in this manner. Liquid’s success goes beyond just gameplay. Their leader, Max, instilled a winning mindset in the group. They even coined their own battle cry: “Fuck Walmart.” It might sound weird, but it seems to work very well.
Now that the world first race is over, Blizzard will likely nerf the game even further. Other teams will get a shot to catch up with Liquid. But make no mistake—Mythic raiding is still incredibly tough.
Team Liquid’s victory will shape WoW’s meta for weeks to come. Other guilds will study their strategies and try to replicate their success. For now, Liquid remains the absolute pinnacle of what competitive Wow has to offer.
