Tony Hawk has personally stepped in to ensure Bam Margera will appear in the upcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 remaster. According to a recent live stream by the Nine Club, Margera was initially set to be excluded from the game before Hawk’s intervention.
Despite pushback from Activision, the former Jackass star recently traveled to participate in a new body scan, updating his character model for the remastered version.
This scan will ensure Margera’s current likeness is accurately represented in the game, giving fans the authentic roster they remember from the original releases.
Margera was a featured skater in the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, which launched in 2001, and returned for Pro Skater 4 in 2002. His inclusion in these games came during the height of his MTV fame, when he was known for his daring skateboarding skills and outrageous stunts.
Despite Margera’s well-documented personal struggles in recent years, including substance abuse issues and public disputes, Hawk believed his presence was essential to maintaining the integrity of the remastered games.
The decision reflects Hawk’s commitment to honoring the original titles that helped define skateboarding video games in the early 2000s.
The upcoming THPS 3+4 remaster follows the successful release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 in 2020, which received praise for its faithful recreation of the original games with modern graphics and gameplay enhancements.
Some fans have expressed concern that the new remaster might focus more heavily on THPS3 content with only select levels from THPS4.
Bam is back in
Fan reactions to Margera’s inclusion have been mixed but generally positive. Many appreciate Hawk’s loyalty to the original skater lineup, with one fan noting that Hawk “probably knows how hard and hurtful this must all be for Bam and didn’t want to add to his pain.”
Others believe Margera’s personal issues shouldn’t impact his legacy in the game series that helped define skateboarding culture for a generation. With a July 11th release date, skateboarding fans and gamers alike eagerly await what could be another Skate classic.
