Footage of the opening Iceland mission from 007: First Light hit YouTube ahead of release, giving fans an unscheduled first look at IO Interactive’s James Bond game before the original upload was pulled.
The leaked video showed the game’s prologue in full, a moody cinematic sequence set in a cold, hostile Icelandic location. Viewers saw a younger Bond infiltrating an island base, dealing with what appeared to be a paramilitary group, with hints of a biological weapons plot. The mission featured a helicopter sequence, a water-based scare, and basic stealth, cover, and climbing mechanics.
The opening leans linear and cinematic rather than sandbox-heavy. It introduces movement and stealth fundamentals instead of the wider toolkit IOI has shown in earlier previews, drawing comparisons to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Splinter Cell, and the gritty tone of Casino Royale.
Shortly after the leak spread, IO Interactive uploaded the same mission officially. The studio’s version appears to be a cleaner, patched build, with at least one visible bug from the leaked footage, where Bond’s parka clipped into his model, already fixed.
The leaked footage is believed to come from an early, unpatched build, possibly a physical copy that slipped out before street date. That means visual issues and rough edges in the leak may not reflect the launch version, especially with a day-one patch expected.
