Summit1g got a permanent ban notification in the middle of a Wardogs session during the shooter’s launch window. He hadn’t cheated. A developer had reportedly aimed a manual ban at someone else and picked the wrong account.

The clip shows the moment on stream. Summit takes the ban screen surprisingly well for someone told his access is gone forever.

Before the ban, Summit and his group had been running into a player they believed was cheating. The opponent kept finding Summit, shot him through solid objects, and even killed him in a situation involving a helicopter that should have been close to impossible.

The developers were apparently aware of what was happening in that match and stepped in directly. Instead of an automated anti-cheat detection, this was a person manually issuing a ban. That person selected Summit.

The fastest unban in the West

The mistake didn’t last long. The team realized the error, reversed the ban, and reached out to apologize personally. Because they didn’t have Summit’s Discord, they reportedly contacted Peanut, someone playing with his group, to pass the message along.

What’s still unclear: whether the suspected cheater was actually banned and whether the team has added any safeguards so a permanent ban can’t be handed to the wrong player with a single click.
