Andrew and Tristan Tate have reportedly been arrested in the United States at the request of British prosecutors, according to a statement attributed to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The statement claims the brothers were detained by the U.S. Marshals Service and are now awaiting extradition proceedings to the United Kingdom.
According to the CPS statement, prosecutors approved a large batch of additional charges against the pair before the arrest. The new allegations involve four further complainants and cover rape, sexual assault, trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault, indecent images of a child, and extreme pornography.
The statement, attributed to Malcolm McHaffie of the CPS Special Crime Division, says the decision followed a fresh file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police. The alleged offending is said to span July 2010-August 2017.
For Andrew Tate, the statement lists 32 further charges:
- Seven counts of rape
- Three counts of trafficking for sexual exploitation
- Three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm
- Nineteen counts relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography
For Tristan Tate, it lists six further charges:
- Two counts of rape
- One count of sexual assault
- Three counts of trafficking for sexual exploitation
That would be 38 new charges on top of 21 already announced in the earlier British case, bringing the total number of alleged victims to seven.
None of these allegations have been tested at trial. The Tate brothers have consistently denied all wrongdoing. An arrest under an extradition request isn’t a conviction and doesn’t mean any court has found them guilty.
The bigger picture
The brothers are already deep in legal trouble. In May 2025, the CPS said it had authorized 21 charges against them, including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain, dating from 2012-2015. Those charges were to be pursued once the brothers were extradited.
In 2024, a Romanian court ruled they could be sent to the UK, but only after Romanian proceedings finished. Their Romanian case, which involved trafficking and organized crime accusations, was later returned to prosecutors over procedural problems. That isn’t the same as an acquittal.
Andrew Tate has also faced civil claims in the UK from women alleging assault and coercive control. He denies those claims too.
