Lacy ended up with a ¥1.6m restaurant bill in Japan after viewers used an ordering QR code that showed up on his livestream.
Lacy was eating at a restaurant in Japan while streaming live. At some point, the restaurant’s QR code was visible on camera.
Many restaurants in Japan use table QR codes. Customers scan them with their phone and order straight from the table. Some codes only open a menu. Others are tied to a specific table, so every order goes onto that table’s bill.
While the code on stream, anyone watching could scan it from their screen and send food to Lacy’s table. The total bill went up to $12,000.
Lacy was furious when the orders piled up. According to reports, he told staff to give the extra food to local families.
The final bill is also unclear. Staff asked Lacy several times if the orders were his. He said no. They also claim the kitchen never cooked the extra food and that staff gave him the receipt and asked him to mark what he actually ordered.
