Hasan Piker just got a mention in one of the most serious rooms on the planet.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu referenced the streamer during an address to the UN General Assembly.
The mention came while Netanyahu was going after Zohran Mamdani, the mayor of New York City. Mamdani ran for mayor in 2025 as a democratic socialist and has been a vocal critic of Israel. Netanyahu reportedly argued that Mamdani makes Jewish people feel unsafe.
To back up that point, Netanyahu reportedly brought up a comment Piker made on stream in 2019. The line quoted from that stream is “America deserved 9/11… like, we totally brought it on ourselves.”
The 2019 clip has followed Piker for years. The September 11, 2001, attacks were carried out by al-Qaeda and killed nearly 3,000 people. Piker has since walked back the wording. He said it was a bad way to criticize U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and that he didn’t mean the victims deserved to die. His critics still bring the clip up regularly, and now one of them did so at the UN.
The timing is no surprise. Piker covers U.S. politics daily, and the Israel-Gaza war has been one of his biggest topics. He is one of the loudest critics of Israel’s military campaign on any streaming platform.
