Doggie has verified GRIEF. The Geometry Dash level is a contender for the title of hardest level in the game.
The project took about two years and around 440,000 attempts.
In Geometry Dash, a user-made level can’t be uploaded the normal way until someone beats it. That run is called verification.
The rules are strict. It has to be one full run in normal mode, from 0% to 100%. Practice mode checkpoints don’t count.
Creators often can’t beat their own extreme levels. So they hand the level to a top player to verify it. That’s Doggie’s role here. GRIEF was built by a group of other creators and given to him to complete.
The long road to 100%
Doggie was stuck at an 80% best for about 11 months. The wall was two brutal late sections called “Greafer” and “Tacos,” reportedly named after their creators.
Then came the real pain. He died at 97% twice before the winning run.
In Geometry Dash, one mistake that late sends you back to 0%. Everything before it has to be played perfectly again.
Fans count the effort at 396 livestreams, with many of them lasting hours.
Top one or not?
GRIEF is widely tipped as the next Top one. That refers to the No. one spot on the Pointercrate Demonlist, the community ranking of the hardest completed levels.
That ranking is separate from the game’s own ratings. In-game, “Extreme Demon” is the highest tier, but it covers a wide range of levels. Beating a level and getting placed on the list are also two different steps. For now, GRIEF is a prospective No. one, not an official one.
With the level verified, GRIEF is now out for anyone to download. Some players said they couldn’t reach the game’s servers shortly after it went live. Some also claimed the level hit around 100,000 downloads. RobTop Games has not confirmed an outage or a cause.
