G2 Esports is reportedly set to make one of the biggest leadership changes in VALORANT. Leviatán captain Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena is expected to replace Jacob “valyn” Batio as G2’s in-game leader for the 2027 season.
Nothing’s official. Neither G2 nor Leviatán has announced anything, and there hasn’t been any confirmation from either player. No contract terms, buyout figures, or start dates have been reported either.
This isn’t a routine bench move. valyn has been the tactical center of G2’s roster since the organization took over the former The Guard core.
That core won the 2023 Americas Ascension tournament, then lost its home when The Guard stepped away from the slot it had just earned. Riot allowed the qualifying roster to move, and G2 picked them up. valyn and Trent “trent” Cairns have been there ever since.
If the move happens, trent could be the last man standing from that original lineup.
Replacing an IGL also means rebuilding a lot of invisible work: pre-round calls, mid-round adjustments, economy decisions, defensive structures, and map prep with the coaching staff. Two IGLs may fill the same seat, but they rarely call the same way.
