Jynxzi just learned the hard way why End Crystals are Minecraft‘s most feared decoration. The streamer lost his Hardcore Minecraft marathon after more than 11 hours of progress, blown up at the worst possible moment during the Ender Dragon fight.
The run had reached the final stage. Jynxzi made it through the Overworld grind, survived the Nether, farmed Blaze Rods, collected Ender Pearls, and finally stepped into The End. The dragon was right there. The finish line was minutes away.
Then he walked up to an obsidian tower and hit the End Crystal sitting on top of it at point-blank range.
The explosion killed him instantly. Because the run was running on Hardcore rules, there was no respawn. The death screen popped up, the marathon was over, and Jynxzi visibly teared up on stream as it sunk in.
The warning he didn’t hear
The painful part is that his co-op partner Ron tried to stop him. Seconds before the hit, Ron can be heard shouting at him not to swing at the crystal up close. Jynxzi either didn’t process it or didn’t react fast enough. He swung anyway.
End Crystals aren’t subtle. They sit on top of the obsidian pillars surrounding the central End island, they heal the Ender Dragon when it flies near them, and they explode hard when damaged. Experienced players take them out from distance using bows, snowballs, or eggs, or they cover the blast with a block. Walking up and melee-swinging one is a Minecraft death sentence.
