Nintendo has revealed Kirby and the World Beyond, a new 3D Kirby adventure heading to Nintendo Switch 2 in spring 2027.
The reveal trailer opens the way most Kirby games do. Green fields, blue sky, cute enemies. Kirby runs around a wide grassy area, grabs Copy Abilities, and swings a sword while wearing the classic green cap. There’s also a scrap with what looks like King Dedede, including a moment that resembles a dodge, block, or parry.
Then the twist. Kirby pulls out an oversized blade and cuts straight through the sky.
The sky splits open like a shell. That bright starter zone turns out to be sealed inside some kind of artificial dome, and outside it sits a much bigger world. The land beyond looks drier and more ruined, with huge ring-shaped structures in the distance and a massive serpentine creature flying past.
That reveal is where the “World Beyond” part of the title comes from.
What we actually know
Not much beyond the basics. Nintendo hasn’t spelled out how the game is structured, and while the footage clearly shows Kirby moving through a large connected space, calling it a full open world is still guesswork until Nintendo says the words.
Also unconfirmed: co-op, whether Bandana Waddle Dee is playable, whether Mouthful Mode and Copy Ability evolution return, and whether this is a direct sequel to Kirby and the Forgotten Land. There’s no exact date, no price, and no word on Switch 2-specific features.
