Insomniac has released a hotfix for Marvel’s Wolverine that gives players more control over the game’s “Senses” system.
According to the patch notes, the update adds three new on/off toggles to the Senses settings:
- Whisky Bottle Scent Trails
- Material Crate Audio Clues
- Nightmare Door Roots
There’s one important limit. The notes say: “Story-critical Senses will still appear in the world.”
So this isn’t a switch that removes every tracking or guidance cue. It only covers these three optional ones. The notes also cover specific cues. The toggles apply to scent trails for whisky bottles and audio clues for material crates, not to all scent trails or all audio clues.
What the Senses do
Wolverine’s heightened senses are a core part of the character. That makes them a natural fit for gameplay. In the game, Senses cues point players toward items, routes, and secrets.
Some of these cues are optional. They help you find extra things but aren’t needed to finish the story. The new toggles target exactly those. The notes don’t say that whisky bottles, crates, or doors have been removed. Only the cues that lead you to them can now be switched off.
The notes leave some questions open. They don’t say whether the toggles are on or off by default. They also don’t say whether the toggles affect spoken hints or other on-screen markers, or whether more changes are coming.
