PlayStation and Insomniac Games have dropped an extended gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, giving the clearest look yet at the upcoming PS5 action-adventure.

The footage puts Logan front and center in his classic yellow-and-blue suit, ripping through enemies with his adamantium claws across a heavily scripted action sequence. It’s the studio’s first proper gameplay reveal after years of teasers, leaks, and speculation.

The combat is fast, close-range, and very bloody. Logan chains slashing attacks, counters, and lunges into cinematic finishers that look heavily inspired by Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man series, only with a lot more red on screen.

Blood sprays from every hit, although the footage shows surprisingly little visible dismemberment. Most of the on-screen limb damage in the trailer appears to involve cybernetically enhanced enemies with robotic or prosthetic parts.

Logan’s healing factor is represented visually as well. Damage shows up on his body during fights, then fades away as he keeps slashing. His suit also seems to clean itself up between combat beats, likely for readability.

Jean Grey joins the fight

Jean Grey shows up as a supporting character, using telekinetic powers represented through purple-pink energy effects. The trailer features a scripted team-up sequence where she fights alongside Wolverine, though it isn’t clear whether she is playable or AI-controlled.

Her design leans grounded and tactical, closer to the 2000s X-Men film look than her comic-accurate Marvel Girl outfit. The contrast between her dark gear and Logan’s bright yellow suit is hard to miss.

The trailer also features a major vehicle-based set piece involving moving trucks, explosions, and cinematic transitions between combat spaces. There’s even a brief stealth-style approach before Logan inevitably switches to “kill everything” mode, which is a funny sight in that very visible yellow costume.

Marvel’s Wolverine is being built exclusively for PS5 by Insomniac Games, the studio behind Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
