League of Legends creator PantsAreDragon seemingly outed his own account ban after leaving his microphone running during a rerun broadcast.
The channel was playing prerecorded content, the kind of stream where viewers assume nobody’s home. His mic, however, was still feeding straight into the broadcast, and it picked up what sounded like a Discord call with a few friends.
He doesn’t appear to realize viewers can hear any of it. Some viewers claimed the mic had been open for hours, meaning the short clip may only be a small slice of the conversation.
Riot hands out chat restrictions, queue lockouts, temporary suspensions, permanent account closures, and penalties tied only to the Public Beta Environment. A single dead account isn’t the same as a person-level ban across every account. The duration and scope of the apparent punishment remain unconfirmed.
Players who ran into him recently alleged the penalty followed roughly three weeks of disruptive behavior on the PBE, Riot’s test server for unreleased champions, skins, and balance changes.
The claims include intentionally feeding once games went badly, going AFK, giving up on matches, playing across multiple accounts, and talking about gaming the report system. One player said he judged whether a match was worth finishing based on whether it could become a “Tuber game,” community slang for a match good enough to upload and monetize.
None of that is confirmed by footage or match records, and Riot hasn’t stated a reason for any action.
The PBE point is worth noting anyway. It is a test environment, but behavior rules still apply there. Being a content creator doesn’t come with an exemption for inting or leaving your team down a player for 20 minutes.
Some viewers have argued the whole leak looks too convenient and could’ve been staged for attention. There’s no evidence either way, and PantsAreDragon hasn’t commented publicly on whether the mic was genuinely left on by mistake.
