Rockstar Games reportedly pushed three separate updates to the official Grand Theft Auto VI website within a single 24-hour window. What changed hasn’t been identified.
Rockstar hasn’t commented on the updates, and no official reveal followed them.
Some fans pointed out that similar site activity was noticed in mid-June before official artwork appeared. Others predicted Trailer 3 in August, a narrated gameplay showcase in September, more videos in October, and a launch trailer near release. That’s all guesswork. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed any of it.
The comparison isn’t random, though. Rockstar has form here. The official GTA 5 gameplay video landed on July 9, 2013, about two months before the game’s original September 17 launch, walking through character switching, driving, gunplay, heists, and side activities. Red Dead Redemption 2 got a two-part gameplay video campaign before its October 2018 release.
Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has also talked repeatedly about keeping marketing short and intense rather than dragging campaigns out for a year. With GTA 6, Rockstar barely needs a campaign: the first trailer broke YouTube records in December 2023 with no warning beyond a one-line announcement.
