Sato is set to join G2 Esports ahead of the 2027 VALORANT Champions Tour season, taking him away from Leviatán.
Neither organization has confirmed anything. There isn’t an official statement from G2, no statement from Leviatán, and no word from Sato himself. Contract length, any buyout or transfer fee, and the effective date all remain unknown.
This is not a standalone move. Leviatán in-game leader kiNgg has also been linked to G2, while current G2 IGL valyn is widely expected to be on the way out.
If both moves land, G2 would be importing a large chunk of Leviatán’s leadership and firepower in one go. The most commonly floated core is Sato, kiNgg, leaf, and trent, with the fifth spot still open.Sato is expected to slot into an attacking role, most likely as a duelist, but it’s unclear who makes way. Some reporting points to Babybay, while Jawgemo has also been mentioned as a candidate. Nothing’s settled.
Sato’s agent pool is also up for debate. He leaned on Phoenix plenty this season, so labeling him a straight entry duelist in the mold of OXY or zekken may be premature.
Leviatán stands to lose a lot
For Leviatán, the timing stings. The organization is coming off an international title run with this core, then missed qualification for Champions. Losing both kiNgg and Sato would mean that lineup never gets a full second season together.
Why the group is splitting isn’t confirmed. Money, roster competition, and possible changes to the VCT Americas structure have all been suggested, but none of it is official.
There is also a rules question. VCT Americas import and residency limits will decide how much of Leviatán’s roster G2 can realistically absorb while staying a North American team. The exact 2027 regulations haven’t been published in detail, so how Sato and kiNgg would be classified is still an open item.
