Stale2000, the former top moderator of r/LivestreamFail, says he showed up in person to a Reddit event for moderators and was walked back out by security.
While recounting the night in a video, he says he arrived “as myself, with a hat.” His reasoning, as he tells it, was that the hat would make him harder to recognize so other moderators wouldn’t swarm him.
That part apparently never got tested. Security approached him, told him to leave, and escorted him from the venue. He says he was warned that police would be contacted if he didn’t comply.
Shortly after, his main account and a batch of alts appeared to go dark. One count put it at roughly 20 accounts, though nobody has produced a full list.
The popular framing is that he was “IP banned.” Take that with salt. Platforms link accounts using several signals like device data, cookies, and login patterns. Reddit doesn’t publicly explain which one it used. Reddit hasn’t commented on the removal, the suspensions, or whether the two are even connected.
Stale2000 had already lost his moderator seat before all this. He was removed after promoting Million-Dollar Fan, a proposed streamer reality project floated with a figure around $20m attached. Streamers whose names were linked to it said they had nothing to do with it, and critics quickly labeled the whole thing misleading.
He responded to the demodding with a roughly 20-minute video about how little support Reddit gives its volunteer moderators, arguing that people running huge communities deserve more recognition and protection. Critics read it as a man asking for celebrity treatment.
