Destiny is well known not to mince any words when talking about other creators in his streams. After a clash with Twitch’s Ludwig this week, he has now shared his opinion on streamer and actress Caroline Kwan during his latest Kick stream.
Destiny raised eyebrows in the streaming community after suggesting creator Caroline Kwan deserves to be put in an “internment camp.” The Kick clip quickly went viral, igniting a heated debate over the acceptable conduct on streaming platforms.
Destiny’s history of stirring up trouble through edgy statements is well-known, and his statements have made quite some waves across communities on Twitch and Kick.com. But many fans felt like he crossed a line with remarks that seemed to justify human rights abuses against a fellow streamer.
While Destiny’s community argues he was just using hyperbole to criticize Kwanโs political views, others see it as a disturbing normalization that has intensified in the past weeks.Seriously, what was he thinking?
The backlash was swift and severe, even from members of Destiny’s fan base. Many called for Twitch and other platforms to take action against Destiny for violating community guidelines. And it is yet unclear if Twitch will impose a ban on the 35-year-old streamer.
So far, Destiny has stayed defiant in the face of criticism and dismissed critical comments as Kwan’s supporters. However, even some of his fans are now calling for an apology and hope for the political streamer to row back on his comments.
At the very least, it’s another example of the increasingly harsh tone between streamers on both ends of the political spectrum, and perhaps even the battle between communities on Twitch and Kick.
