Korean streamer Taemin ran into a tip screen at a checkout counter. He answered it with a pointing finger and a very quick tap.
Taemin was filming at a counter-service spot. When he paid, the card screen showed a tip prompt. Viewers say the cashier warned him with a familiar line, something like “It’s going to ask you a few questions.”
As the tip options came up, Taemin pointed toward a wall. Then he tapped “No Tip.”
Many viewers saw the point as a move to pull the cashier’s attention away from the screen. Taemin hasn’t said that was his plan.
Why the screen caught him off guard
In South Korea, people usually don’t tip at cafés or restaurants. The price you see is the price you pay.
In the U.S., tip screens now appear almost everywhere you pay by card. That includes places where you order at the counter and pick up your own drink.
These prompts are optional. Most screens show preset amounts next to “No Tip” or a custom amount. For basic counter service, tipping is up to the customer.
