Pikaboo just lost a duel he was supposed to win.

The World of Warcraft PvP star was playing a warrior at around level 20. His opponent was a hunter at about the same level. That hunter also had resurrection sickness, one of the harshest debuffs in the game.

The hunter still won.

Resurrection sickness hits players who come back to life at a spirit healer instead of running back to their body. In classic-era WoW, it cut a character’s stats by 75% for up to 10 minutes.

The duel took place on WoW Forever‘s beta. On paper, this should have been an easy fight. It wasn’t.

Stuck in the ice

Warriors need to get close to deal damage. Hunters want the opposite. This hunter kept Pikaboo at a distance the whole time.

Pikaboo walked into two Freezing Traps while trying to reach his target. Each trap froze him in place and gave the hunter more time to shoot from range.

The hunter’s wolf pet also joined the fight. Pikaboo spent some of his attacks on it, including Sunder Armor. One viewer said the wolf dropped to around half health early on and argued that Pikaboo could have finished the pet first. Others weren’t sure how much damage the wolf really did.

Two traps and no Intercept

Level 20 is a rough spot for warriors. In classic-era WoW, Charge only works outside of combat. Once the fight starts, it’s useless. The in-combat gap closer, Intercept, doesn’t arrive until level 30.

Some fans blamed Pikaboo’s movement or how he spent his rage. Others said none of it mattered. As one put it, a melee class with no gap closer that walks into two Freezing Traps is going to lose, even if every ability cost zero rage.
