Forsen started a new Terraria playthrough. It took him until the very first chest to make a big mistake.
He opened the chest and started clicking through the items inside. According to viewers, he was holding Ctrl while he clicked.
That didn’t move the loot into his inventory. It sent each item to the trash slot.
The key he needed was Shift. In the control setup shown in the clip, Shift-click moves items from a chest into your inventory. Ctrl-click trashes them.
How the chest works
In Terraria, chests have their own inventory, separate from the player’s. Shortcuts make it faster to move items between the two. The chest menu also has a “Loot All” button that grabs everything in one click.
The trash slot isn’t an instant delete button. It holds one item or stack, and you can take it back out. The catch is that every new item you trash replaces the one already there. So when you trash a whole chest, only the last item stays in the slot.
Plenty of viewers missed the mistake on their first watch. Others had to point out what the Ctrl-click actually did.
That led to a debate about whether Terraria makes quick-trashing clear enough with its visual and sound cues. Some viewers asked whether habits from other games could explain it. One pointed out that Ctrl-click moves items in Path of Exile.
There’s no sign that this was what went through Forsen’s head. For now, the only confirmed result is one empty chest in his inventory.
