G2 Esports top laner Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik has reportedly chosen to represent Turkey at ENC 2026, turning down eligibility for Germany in the process.
The decision, according to sources circulating ahead of any official roster reveal, settles one of the bigger dual-eligibility questions heading into the nation-based League of Legends event. Nothing has been formally confirmed by BrokenBlade, G2, or either national staff yet.
The same report claims Turkish top laner Naak Nako was also in the mix for Turkey’s top lane slot. If the info holds, Turkey went with the veteran over the rising star.
BrokenBlade qualifies for Germany as a German-born player and for Turkey through his heritage. He made his name in the Turkish Championship League (TCL) before moving on to Royal Youth, Schalke 04, TSM, and eventually G2, where he has been the starting top laner for several years and remains one of Europe’s most recognizable names in the role.
That Turkish origin story is a big reason the choice isn’t exactly shocking. BrokenBlade has long been seen as a Turkish scene export, and he’s hinted in the past that he’d want to play for Turkey if the chance came up.
For Germany, the knock-on effect is simple: one of their strongest eligible top laners is off the board. Names like Irrelevant and JNX have been floated as possible replacements, though nothing is locked in there either.
