Destiny, Mr. Mouton, and Peach appear to have lost their shared Minecraft hardcore run in the worst way possible. They summoned a Wither, stayed too close, and got caught in its opening explosion.
The fight never really happened. The blast ended the run before the boss fired a single skull.
The trio had been playing this world for weeks. It was a hardcore game with soul-link rules on top.
Hardcore already raises the stakes. Difficulty is locked to Hard, and when you die, you can’t respawn as normal. The soul link connects the players, so one person’s mistake can become everyone’s problem.
Why summon a Wither at all?
The Wither is an optional boss. You don’t need it to beat the dragon. Players create it on purpose by placing three Wither skeleton skulls on top of a T-shape made of soul sand or soul soil.
Killing it drops a Nether star. You need that star to craft a beacon. According to viewers, building a beacon was the group’s goal.
A beacon is more than a trophy. When placed on a pyramid of mineral blocks, it gives nearby players buffs like Haste, which speeds up mining and building. That’s a very useful item for a team that’s busy building.
The mechanic that got them
When a Wither spawns, it doesn’t attack right away. It flashes between black and blue while its health bar fills up. During this phase, it can’t take damage, it doesn’t move, and it doesn’t attack.
In Java Edition, this charge-up lasts about 11 seconds, or 220 game ticks. Then it explodes, and the blast is big enough to destroy nearby blocks.
That quiet window is a trap. The boss looks harmless right up until it isn’t. From the available footage, the trio was standing inside the blast zone when the charge-up ended.
The Wither’s real attack pattern, with flying skulls and more, only starts after that explosion. This crew apparently never got that far.
