Leaked set footage appears to show Alex Garland’s Elden Ring movie filming the Dung Eater punishment scene

Turns out the first live-action glimpse of the Lands Between is somehow the grossest guy in it.

TL;DR
  • Leaked set footage appears to show the Elden Ring film recreating the Dung Eater's public punishment scene from the game's opening cinematic.
  • An actor in full Dung Eater costume is shown restrained while a crowd hurls produce at him, mirroring FromSoftware's original framing almost shot-for-shot.
  • Combined with other alleged leaks featuring Marika and a ruined church, the footage suggests the movie is adapting specific in-game imagery and lore rather than just borrowing the setting.

Leaked footage from the set of the upcoming Elden Ring movie appears to show the production filming a live-action version of the Loathsome Dung Eater’s public punishment scene from the game’s opening cinematic.

The clips and photos going around show a performer dressed in the Dung Eater’s unmistakable armor, restrained in front of a crowd of extras who pelt him with produce and debris.

The staging lines up almost exactly with the stylized shot FromSoftware used to introduce the character in the game’s prologue, right down to the silhouette, the bindings, and the grimy medieval-execution atmosphere.

The footage reportedly comes from an outdoor practical set in the UK, in a spot visible enough to the public that on-set material has been steadily leaking out.

A very specific kind of fan service

The Dung Eater isn’t a deep-cut pick. He’s one of the named Tarnished featured in the game’s opening montage alongside Hoarah Loux, Goldmask, Fia, and Sir Gideon Ofnir, and he anchors one of Elden Ring‘s darkest questlines. His inclusion in the film suggests the adaptation is pulling directly from core game imagery rather than inventing a loose story in the same setting.

Other alleged set leaks have pointed to a ruined Church of Marika, crucifixion posts, and a version of Marika herself, fueling speculation that the film may move between the pre-Shattering era and the Tarnished storyline that follows. Since Dung Eater is one of the Tarnished called back to the Lands Between after the Shattering, his presence hints that the movie isn’t set purely in the mythic past.
