CD Projekt Red has announced a third expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled Songs of the Past. It is set to launch in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The expansion will once again put players in the boots of Geralt of Rivia for what CDPR calls a “brand new adventure.” No story details, setting, or gameplay specifics have been shared yet. The studio says more information will arrive in late summer 2026.

CDPR is co-developing Songs of the Past with Fool’s Theory, a Polish studio whose team includes veterans who worked on the original Witcher 3. Fool’s Theory is also leading work on The Witcher Remake, the Unreal Engine 5 reimagining of the first game in the series.

The Witcher 3 originally launched in May 2015. Its last expansion, Blood and Wine, dropped in May 2016. If Songs of the Past hits its 2027 window, it will arrive roughly 11 years after the previous expansion and 12 years after the base game.

Geralt’s return is a small shock on its own. Blood and Wine was widely seen as the character’s send-off, with CDPR previously suggesting his starring role in the main saga was done. The studio’s next mainline RPG, codenamed Project Polaris, is expected to kick off a new saga centered on Ciri.

No PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or Switch 2 versions have been announced. The current platform list lines up with the next-gen update CDPR released in December 2022, which added ray tracing, performance modes, and visual upgrades on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
