Hasan Piker had an awkward run-in this week after a man ambushed him in public with a camera and a long list of grievances.
Footage shows the heckler trailing Piker while shouting that he is a “viewbotter” and a “fraud.” Piker doesn’t engage. He keeps walking as people around him step between the two and try to push the camera back.
The viewbotting accusation kicks things off, but it doesn’t last long. The heckler quickly pivots to calling Piker a “dog abuser,” referencing the ongoing online controversy around Piker’s dog Kaya. He also throws in jabs about Twitch and CEO Dan Clancy, hinting at the popular online theory that Piker gets favorable treatment from the platform.
The viewbotting angle is a strange hill to die on. Piker is one of the few large Twitch streamers whose numbers stay steady through Twitch’s regular bot purges, which is generally taken as a sign that his audience is real. The Kaya allegations stem from a separate clip that critics have been recirculating for months, which Piker’s detractors have turned into a recurring meme.
Piker hasn’t publicly addressed the run-in at the time of writing. The heckler’s identity and Kick channel haven’t been officially confirmed.
