Kick’s staff is under fire after allegations surfaced that staff made insensitive comments about popular streamer Kyedae Shymko’s battle with cancer. According to accusations by a former Kick employee ItsMelissaDude, staff allegedly remarked that they could sign Kyedae “for a low price” because “she probably thinks she’s gonna die soon” and wants to “leave money for her family.” Kyedae has been publicly fighting leukemia.
The allegations caused outrage in the streaming community when they were posted on Melissa’s Youtube channel. In the clip she mentions the Kyedae case as one of the reasons why she had to leave Kick.
Fans all over the internet debated the d claims and condemned Kick. “This can’t be real,” one commenter wrote in disbelief. Others slammed Kick’s reputation, saying this is why they can’t watch Kick streamer xQc anymore, because “he chooses the most braindead people to befriend and defend.”
Kick frequently causes controversial reactions for its gambling streams and partnering with streamers banned from Twitch for bad behavior. It is not yet clear how credibile the allegations are, since there is concrete proof. However the Melissa’s history in the industry makes many fans out there believe that the allegations might be true.
These accusations certainly struck a nerve and many are calling for answers from Kick’s leadership. Fans expect xQc to address the topic soon.
