Félix Lengyel, better known as xQc, is under heavy scrutiny after defending rapper Drake against claims of inappropriate texting with 14-year-old Millie Bobby Brown. The Canadian rapper allegedly sent messages like “I miss you” and discussed the girl’s dating life, and has recently been called out for his behavior by fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar.
In the past few days, the claims against Drake have become omnipresent in media, so the Twitch community asked xQc to hear his two cents on the situation. Many fans were not exactly satisfied after hearing that Lengyel did not see any wrongdoing on Drake’s side.
During his stream, he called Drake’s critiques “concerning” and “weird” for assuming the rapper had any wrong intentions. Drake was called out for his close relationships with young celebrities such as Millie Bobby Brown and Billie Eilish. Yet, xQc seems to find no problem with a man in his thirties texting a teenager.
The Twitch community was not pleased with xQc’s response to the topic. Many fans on the platform speculate that his judgment may be clouded by profitable business arrangements with Drake relating to gambling sponsorships.
xQc himself announced before that he prefers not to play video games with minors in his stream, particularly to avoid any confusion like in Drake’s case. A lot of viewers agree with this stance but accuse him of hypocrisy now, since he knows why these types of situations can be inappropriate.
