Twitch is in turmoil after BruceDropEmOff suggested that fans of fellow creator xQc, known as “Juicers,” should be shot. The statements made during Bruce’s most recent livestream are causing a lot of turmoil between communities on Twitch and Kick.
The latest beef between the two started when Félix Lengyel aka xQc flaunted his new diamond watch in response to a video by BruceDropEmOff. He did so to show that he had the upper hand in the drip game between the two streamers. And if you think Bruce would shrug this simple materialistic provocation off like nothing, then you should think again.
In his next stream, Bruce wore his very own full gold Audemars Piguet and held it into the camera for everyone to see. “You can’t just put diamonds in my face and I will go, uhh…” Bruce said during his rant, followed by a lot of profanity and over-the-top comments. At the end of his monologue, Bruce called for all Juicers out there to be shot. That’s where he crossed the line for a lot of viewers.
The incident has reignited debates over Twitch’s handling of policy violations, especially from big names who rake in views and revenue. With inconsistent punishments in the past, all eyes are on Twitch to see if BruceDropEmOff’s violent rhetoric earns him a lengthy time-out.
Beyond just one streamer’s rants, this controversy hits on deeper issues in the community. A lot of choices in the community are raising concerns over the mental well-being and unchecked behavior of some top personalities. BruceDropEmOff himself is known for erratic actions, including suddenly leaving the streaming collective OTK.
Young viewers who tune in daily to their streaming idols may be negatively influenced by the example this sets, which is also a worry. Millions of impressionable fans are exposed to an endless barrage of over-the-top antics and edgy trash talk. Is this healthy for the next generation of gamers?
This latest scandal adds more fuel to the fire that was reignited between the two after xQc questioned the latest allegations regarding streamer Kyedae and Kick’s management. Will Twitch step up and take a hard line on threats of violence?
