TL;DR
  • xQc has called attention to allegations that Emiru groomed a 17-year-old fan after reportedly communicating with them since they were 15.
  • The streamer pointed out that male content creators like CallMeCarson faced severe consequences for similar allegations while Emiru has not received the same treatment.
  • Bonbibonkers directly addressed the speculation online, clarifying that Emiru was not the person she was referring to in her videos

Streamer xQc has ignited online conversation by highlighting what he sees as double standards in the treatment of grooming allegations within the streaming community.

The controversy centers around fellow streamer Emiru, who faces accusations of grooming a 17-year-old fan and smaller creator Bonbibonkers.

According to the allegations, Emiru, 23 at the time, had been in contact with the fan since they were 15. The relationship allegedly turned romantic when the individual was 17.

The situation has drawn widespread attention as it mirrors cases involving male streamers who faced severe consequences for similar behavior.

xQc specifically compared Emiru’s case to that of CallMeCarson, who was effectively “canceled” after allegations surfaced about inappropriate exchanges between him at 19 and a 17-year-old fan. CallMeCarson lost sponsorships and was hit with overwhelming community criticism, ultimately stepping away from content creation for a long while.

“I want to know if people are going to be consistent,” xQc said during a recent stream. “When a similar situation happened with Carson, he got completely removed from the internet.”

What’s the real story?

However, the narrative shifted when Bonbibonkers directly addressed the speculation online. In a post on X, she clarified that Emiru was not the person she was referring to in her videos and that the story had been misinterpreted.

“The person I was referring to in those clips is not Emiru, and I never said it was,” she wrote. “The fact people ran with the story and put her name on it in attempt to cancel her is really disgusting.”

Bonbibonkers added that the speculation had led to harassment and misinformation: “Not only are people harassing her, but they are spreading literal lies (things I didn’t even say) to try to make her look bad. I did not tell the story to attempt to cancel anyone and it wasn’t my intention that it blew up.”

Despite the viral nature of the accusations, no evidence directly connects Emiru to grooming, and the Bonbibonkers now explicitly denies her involvement. As of now, Emiru has not issued a statement, but the situation appears to have been based on assumptions rather than verified facts.

The incident underscores how quickly online speculation can spiral, especially when it involves high-profile creators, and how important it is to separate facts from assumptions before assigning blame.
