Dplus KIA head coach Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho was caught on the broadcast between games of DK’s series against KT, and he had one player in mind.
After a messy opening game on Karma, Career was taken away from the rest of the team for a private review with the coach. No group huddle, no shared feedback. Just the two of them.
The footage shows cvMax talking fast and emphatically, hands moving, eyes locked on the player. Career listens and holds eye contact the whole time. There’s no usable audio, so what was actually said between them isn’t public.
That didn’t stop viewers from filling in the blanks. The clip spread within minutes, with fans joking that cvMax had “ulted” Career with Mordekaiser, whose Realm of Death drags a single enemy into an isolated 1v1 arena.
Career later addressed the moment and said cvMax wasn’t shouting at him. The safest description of the clip is what you can actually see: an animated, direct, one-on-one talk.
Whatever was said, DK looked sharper in the following games. Plenty of viewers had written the series off after Game one and thought KT had it locked up. Nobody involved has claimed the talk was the reason for the change.
“Treat me like an animal”
The scene landed harder because of a story ShowMaker told on the DK podcast. He said Career and Lucid kept repeating the same mistakes in scrims, and cvMax got frustrated trying to correct them, comparing the process to potty training a dog.
Career’s reported response was to ask for more of it. In the translated version of the anecdote, he told cvMax: “Dae-ho hyung, there is no other way for me. Please continue to treat me like that. I’m really an animal, I still can’t understand. So please continue to treat me like an animal, continue to stimulate me so that I can become better.”
The Mordekaiser line isn’t new for cvMax either. Smash previously told the LCK Global broadcast that he had a one-on-one with the coach after his team went 0-2 down against BNK, and described it the exact same way.
