Dplus KIA come back from G2’s early lead to win their Worlds 2026 opener

Being 7 kills up is apparently just a warm-up for G2.

TL;DR
  • G2 led seven–zero in kills and had up to around 4,000 gold, but lost their Worlds 2026 Swiss opener to Dplus KIA.
  • DK came back through early dragons, side-lane farm from Siwoo, and a key Baron fight where Caps got caught.
  • ShowMaker's Syndra led the comeback, and DK now sit at one–zero while G2 fall to zero–one.

Dplus KIA have beaten G2 Esports in Round one of the Worlds 2026 Swiss stage. They did it after falling seven–zero behind in kills.

G2 got the start they wanted. Early fights went their way, and their gold lead reportedly reached around 3,000 to 4,000.

That lead never turned into full control of the map.

Kills give gold, but so do minions, towers, and objectives. Dplus KIA stayed in the game through those.

DK secured two early dragons. G2 also gave up a dragon and Void Grubs even while winning fights.

Those early stacks changed the next phase of the game. With DK building toward Dragon Soul, G2 felt they had to contest each later dragon. Those fights didn’t go their way.

G2 grouped mid while DK farmed

In the midgame, G2 often grouped in mid lane. Side-lane waves went uncollected as a result.

DK’s Olaf and Syndra kept farming, while G2’s solo laners fell behind on resources. Siwoo’s side-lane play is credited with dragging the game out long enough for DK to recover.

DK’s Ziggs also made a simple grouped push hard. His range and wave clear can hold off a siege, so G2’s mid pressure didn’t translate into towers or a closed game.

The win puts Dplus KIA in the one–zero pool. G2 drop to zero–one.

No one’s through or out yet. In the recent Swiss format, teams need three wins to advance, and three losses send them home. G2 still have time to fix this.
