Global Esports has announced that Morgan “FrosT” Wendel is no longer the head coach of its VCT Pacific VALORANT roster. The timing has gotten people talking, since the move comes directly after one of the strongest competitive stretches in the org’s VALORANT history, including a recent international qualification.
CEO and founder Rushindra “Rushi” Sinha fronted the announcement himself, taking full responsibility for the call. “This was absolutely my decision,” he said, before adding that FrosT had “different plans” moving forward. Rushi also praised FrosT and left the door open for a future reunion, but stopped short of giving a detailed reason for the split.
FrosT had become a central figure in GE’s rise. The North American coach, previously of Talon Esports, was widely credited by fans and analysts with shaping the team into a real Pacific contender after years of inconsistency. Under him, GE finally broke through to international relevance, a milestone the org had been chasing since joining the partnered league.
Platoon steps up from the analyst chair
Holy “Platoon” is expected to take over as head coach. He’s an internal promotion rather than an outside hire, having worked with the team on analysis and map prep. Pearl in particular has been pointed to as his project, with GE posting strong results on the map throughout the season.
This isn’t the first time GE has elevated a coach from within after a sudden departure, so the move fits the org’s recent pattern of prioritizing continuity over splashy hires.
The change lands at an awkward moment competitively. GE still has Stage 2 ahead, Champions qualification to fight for, and the international event it just booked. A new voice in the coaching chair means potential shifts in agent comps, map vetoes, and role assignments right when stability matters most.
