An old clip of Dale “LowTierGod” Wilson has come back around at the worst possible time for him. In the archived footage, Wilson tells his audience: “If I’m still streaming six years later, I’m a failure.”
Six years have now passed. He’s still streaming.
LTG remains one of the most recognizable names to come out of the fighting game scene. He built his following through Street Fighter, Tekken, and endless clips of confrontational rants that spread far beyond people who actually watch fighting games.
Viewers gave the anniversary a nickname: “Doomsdale,” a play on Wilson’s first name. Countdown sites including doomsdale.com and lowtierfailure.com were set up by fans and detractors to mark the date.
There’s an obvious irony in all of it. The people mocking the anniversary are also the ones pushing traffic toward his channel, and his next stream is expected to be one of his biggest in a while.
Wilson hasn’t publicly addressed the clip. Whether he still judges his career by the standard he set six years ago is anyone’s guess.
