Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro has reportedly vanished from shelves following Rockstar’s latest Grand Theft Auto VI reveal, with third-party sellers now asking as much as $1,300 for the machine.
New GTA VI footage dropped, attention swung back to current-gen hardware, and PS5 Pro stock reportedly dried up at several retailers. Resellers did what resellers always do and cranked up their asking prices.
Here’s the part getting lost in the rush: GTA 6 is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The standard PS5 is a target platform, not an afterthought.
Rockstar even confirmed that its second trailer was captured in-game on a regular PlayStation 5, mixing gameplay and cutscenes. No Pro required.
Rockstar hasn’t announced any PS5 Pro-specific feature set for the game. Talk of 30fps targets, a 40fps Pro mode, or CPU bottlenecks is guesswork until Rockstar or Sony says otherwise. Worth remembering that the Pro upgraded the GPU and ray tracing, and added PSSR upscaling, but it didn’t swap in a new-generation CPU, which matters a lot in heavy open-world games.
