Riot Games has temporarily disabled Neon in VALORANT, removing the duelist from the live client until Patch 12.09 ships. The studio is also lining up additional Neon changes for that same update.
This decision comes after a visual issue tied to her Fast Lane wall. In certain conditions, the energy walls reportedly fail to render properly, leaving the ability nearly invisible to some opponents. In a tactical shooter built around readable utility, that is a serious problem. Players hiding behind a Fast Lane wall could be fully exposed without realizing it, while attackers on the other side push through with a clear view.
The bug is not new. Players have been flagging the rendering issue for a long time, with much of the chatter pointing at specific graphics settings as the trigger. Riot has not pinned down a public cause beyond confirming the agent is being pulled while a fix is prepared.
Neon also gets the balance treatment
Patch 12.09 will not just be a bug fix. Riot has confirmed Neon is getting changes in the same update, though the studio has not yet shared the details. With Neon dominating ranked and pro lobbies thanks to her slide, mobility, and aggressive entry pressure, the community is widely expecting nerfs, but the official patch notes will be the only place to confirm exactly what is changing.
For ranked players, the impact is immediate. Neon is locked out of the agent select screen until the patch goes live, and lobbies that were stacked with her on every other team are about to feel very different. Some players are genuinely happy about the break.
The esports side is more complicated. VCT events typically run on a locked tournament patch, separate from the live client, so the disable does not automatically remove Neon from upcoming pro matches. Practice is the bigger headache. Teams that drill Neon comps in ranked lose that environment until she returns.
