Duncan “Thorin” Shields cut a Counter-Strike livestream short after another player spent the match getting in the way.
The British esports journalist and Counter-Strike analyst was playing on his Twitch channel when the session turned sour. He didn’t push through it. He ended the stream.
Viewers described the other player’s behavior as trolling or griefing. That means deliberately ruining the game for everyone else.
The player had been ruining the match for several rounds before the clip. The score was four-four when it happened. Some viewers questioned leaving a tied game. But a close score says nothing about whether the match was still fun, or even playable.
One player who won’t cooperate can wreck a match for the whole team. In standard competitive play, a team needs 13 round wins. At four-four, that’s a lot more rounds to suffer through.
There’s no word on a ban, an apology, or any follow-up from Thorin. Nothing suggests he’s done with Counter-Strike for good. He’s only done with that one match.
