Japanese streamer Yokoyama Midori had a simple plan during a recent IRL broadcast: tell a stranger her dog was cute. It didn’t go the way he hoped.
While walking outdoors with his camera rolling, Midori spotted a woman taking her small dog out for a stroll. He stepped close and said, “Wanchan kawaii desu yo ne?” which roughly translates to “Cute dog, right?”

The woman jumped. The dog started barking. Within seconds, she was already hurrying down the street with her pet in tow, leaving Midori behind mid-sentence.
To his credit, he immediately apologized. No chase, no second attempt, just a quick “sorry” as she walked off.
A confused selfie cam moment
Then came the part that made the clip take off. Midori flipped the camera to his own face, stared into it, and asked his viewers what just happened. “All I said was your dog is cute,” he said. “Did I really do something scary?” Dressed in dark clothes and a black Kick cap, he looked genuinely puzzled.
Most of the discussion landed on the same theory: He likely approached from behind or spoke before she noticed him, startling both her and the dog at the same time. Once the barking started, leaving was probably the fastest way to calm the situation, not a verdict on Midori himself.
