G2 mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther has explained the champion behind his Hall of Legends skin, and the reason is simple: Tristana is fun.
Caps said enjoyment was the main factor in his pick. He’s had a lot of fun playing the yordle over the years, and some of his favorite memories with her came from professional matches against Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon. Getting kills on both of them with Tristana, he said, made the champion stick with him.
He also stressed that fun is still an important part of League for him, even at the top of competitive play. Hall of Legends champion could easily be chosen for other reasons: most games played, best win rate, or whichever champion sells the most skins. Caps went with the one tied to moments he actually remembers enjoying.
Tristana is a bot lane marksman by design, but she’s had spells as a mid lane pick in pro play, and Caps used her during those metas. Rocket Jump plus Explosive Charge gives her brutal early all-ins, she shoves waves and melts turrets, and her jump resets on takedowns. It also has that famous timing trick where a well-placed W can carry her through incoming crowd control. That’s more or less a shopping list of everything Caps likes doing on a champion.
A skin about how he wants to remember playing
Riot’s Hall of Legends program launched in 2024 with Faker as the first inductee. Unlike Worlds skins, which lock a champion to one specific title run, Hall of Legends content is built around a whole career, so a personal pick like Tristana fits the format.
The second champion attached to Caps’ set is reported to be Orianna, long one of his highest-played mid laners and a staple of pro play for over a decade. If that holds, the pairing is neat: Orianna for the career, Tristana for the fun.
