Adapt pulled off one of the more unlikely trick shots in recent memory this week, hitting a match-ending kill in Call of Duty while sitting on a moving boat in an Alaskan national park.
The setup was as far from a gaming chair as it gets. Adapt was playing on a PS5, connected through Starlink, outdoors, on the water, with Maya Higa standing next to him holding an umbrella over the screen so he could see what he was doing.
Adapt was in a free-for-all match, which meant grinding to 29 eliminations first, then staying alive long enough to line up something worth showing. According to viewers, that exact scenario only came together about four times across the entire trip.
On the last one, he spun and fired a long-range shot that went through an obstruction for the apparent winning kill. The final kill replay ran it back immediately. Higa dropped the umbrella act and celebrated with him.
Why they were on a boat in the first place
The Call of Duty session was a side quest. The broadcast was part of a wider Alaska trip focused on wildlife and conservation, with lynx and bear sightings among the other moments captured on stream. The group was heading to a beach to collect trash, with the boat’s captain running an organization that removes plastic from natural environments.
For Adapt, the moment was a callback. FaZe built its early name on Call of Duty sniping montages, and trick shots are the format that made creators like him famous in the first place. This time it just happened over satellite internet, in the rain, on a boat.
