Achievement lists for a pile of unreleased PC games apparently became publicly visible overnight through Steam-connected data services, and players spent hours screenshotting everything before it vanished.

The material showed up on trackers like SteamDB and the achievement site Exophase, which pull information from Steam. It reportedly included achievement names, descriptions, icons, and Steam app IDs for games that are months or years away, plus a few that have never been announced at all.

Big names allegedly caught up in it include Kingdom Hearts IV, Persona 6, Mega Man Dual Override, Judas, Squadron 42, Deus Ex Remastered, Metal Max 2, and an unidentified Shrek project.

Nobody has confirmed how it happened. The popular theory is that hidden achievement data was briefly served up through a Steam backend or API misconfiguration, meaning any game with an existing Steam app ID could be checked. That is a community guess, not an official explanation. Valve has said nothing.

Spoiler warning from here.

The Kingdom Hearts IV list is the one causing panic. The achievements reference a set of worlds, the return of the Gummi Ship, and a final boss. One entry was read as pointing to a Star Wars world, which would be a first for the series. Square Enix and Disney haven’t commented, and the underlying page hasn’t been independently verified.

The alleged Persona 6 list is even less confirmed. Readers claimed it mentions the group the protagonist joins, a police angle, something described as “Persona arrests,” and over 80 social-link-style connections. Treat all of that as unverified until Atlus says otherwise.

Mega Man Dual Override achievements reportedly appeared mid-conversation, apparently revealing extra playable characters and the winner of Capcom’s boss design contest.

The Shrek entry got the most attention for the silliest reason. People who read its achievements concluded it was a remastered port of the 2004 Shrek 2 game. No publisher, developer, or release date attached, just vibes and an achievement list.

And then there is Judas. Ken Levine’s shooter reportedly had exactly one achievement configured, named “Placeholder.” Ghost Story Games leaked nothing.

Half the leak got fact-checked instantly

Not everything held up. An achievement set passed around as a Balatro sequel was picked apart within minutes: mismatched icon resolutions, generic “Unlock X” conditions, and slot machine references that clash with LocalThunk’s known stance on gambling. A claimed Warhammer 4 leak turned out to be Warhammer II and III achievements. A Stellaris entry looked like DLC, not a new game.

Mystery entries still floating around include ALF, Twin Peaks, Candy Crush, Danganronpa 2×2, and something Walking Dead-related that nobody has identified.

Achievement data gets configured early because studios need to hook unlocks to in-game triggers, test icons, and run localization, so a complete list doesn’t mean a game is finished. It also doesn’t guarantee a Steam release ever happens, test app IDs exist for a reason.
